Grayson Launches New Online Business Services and Efficiencies
(Frankfort, KY) Continuing his push to make government more accessible and transparent, Secretary of State Trey Grayson announced today the next steps in a series of corporate initiatives designed to make it easier for companies to do business within the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Starting today, organizations that wish to file a Statement of Change designating the change of a company’s Registered Agent, Principle Office, or both, may do so online by visiting www.sos.ky.gov. Citizens may also register online to receive an automatic notification any time there is a change in the record of a business entity that is filed with the Secretary of State.
“These changes will not only serve as a great benefit to the constituents of our office, but they will allow us to use our personnel more efficiently in the wake of the deep cuts our office has experienced this year,” remarked Grayson.
The Office of the Secretary of State accepts more than 18,000 Statement of Change Forms every year, making it one of the most commonly filed documents in the office. The filing fee remains $10.00, and there is no additional processing fee for filing online.
The business notification system is one of several notification systems that Grayson plans to launch in the next year that will allow citizens to receive user-defined information from the office directly in a constituent’s email inbox or via web feed. These enhancements are part of Grayson’s Check It Out Kentucky! initiative, a program designed to bring greater accountability for government to all citizens of Kentucky.
The notification services provide a mechanism for users to subscribe to be notified of changes to business records maintained by the office. Users can receive notifications of new records and/or modifications made to records via email and/or RSS feeds at various, customizable intervals.
To sign up for the new and future notification services, individuals should visit: http://apps.sos.ky.gov/notificationservices/
“These new services will allow citizens to have greater access to information from this office at any time that they want it,” noted Grayson. “These are the kinds of steps necessary to make government more transparent to the citizens that we serve.”
Grayson has advocated for a number of other online and transparency initiatives during his tenure. During his first term in office, he placed millions of images online for the first time, including the Governor’s Executive Journal and Enacted Legislation of the Kentucky General Assembly. During his tenure, the Office of the Secretary of State changed the way that Kentuckians can do business, by creating new online services. The Office is transforming into a 21st Century office, with a 24-hour service center where citizens can conduct business whether or not it is during the operating hours of the office.
