Gender Equity Bill

Does it matter that Kentucky women are exhaustively underrepresented in the political and public policy-making process?

It does to Secretary of State Trey Grayson.

Grayson has taken a highly visible leadership role by endorsing House Bill 2 dubbed, "No Woman Left Behind." This gender equity bill will bring gender balance to state boards and commissions as appointed by the governor.

Grayson's active role in promoting women's participation in government is one that should cause all elected officials to stand up and take notice. It is an example of a civic leader who is committed to pulling Kentucky up by the bootstraps, putting partisan politics aside and doing what is right for women and for all Kentuckians.

In her position as Senate president pro tem, Katie Stine is in the unique position of being able to get HB 2 passed in the Senate during this legislative session. She can join Grayson in ridding the old social order and the entrenched status quo to do what's right for Kentuckians.

This is an opportunity for Stine as the first woman to hold the position of Senate president pro tem to voice her support for this important piece of legislation and join Grayson in an unyielding commitment to launch the movement of empowering women in the political and public policy-making process.
