Tulip Poplar Tree

The Liriodendron tulipifera, commonly known as the American tulip tree, tulip poplar or yellow poplar, is the state tree of Kentucky.   It can grow up to 165 feet tall and live for over 200 years.  It blossoms in late spring with yellow-green flowers that resemble tulips.  The tulip poplar tree is the state tree of Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.
